Laboratory Exhaust Fume Hoods




When most people think of laboratory furnishings, they picture lab tables, chairs, flat work surfaces, and sinks. However, lab equipment such as an exhaust fume hood is commonly found in many laboratories neogen indonesia. A fume hood is localized ventilation equipment that limits human exposure to noxious or hazardous dusts, vapors, or fumes. Different sizes and styles are available to suit different space availability and project needs.


This equipment typically encloses five sides of the work area and the bottom of the hood is usually situated at a standing work height. A walk-in model is designed for a lab that requires a large compartment to handle fume control. The most convenient styles are narrow enough to fit through the width of a standard doorway. The equipment operates by drawing in air from the open (front) side of the cabinet and filtering and resupplying it to the room or expelling it to the exterior of the building.


For the smallest fume control needs, a benchtop hood with a built-in blower should be sufficient thermogravimetric analyzer tga. Base storage cabinets made from melamine or metal are available, as are vacuum unit, flame-resistant, and chemical-resistant cabinets.


This hood is most commonly used in a lab where noxious or hazardous chemicals are released during teaching, research, testing, or development. However, this equipment can also be found in an industrial setting where hazardous or noxious vapors, dusts, or gases are generated or released. It controls airborne irritants and hazards that are generated or released within a local ventilation device. The hood is designed to protect the user, the experiment or product, the environment, or a combination of the three.


This equipment also serves secondary purposes that include containing spills, protecting against explosions, and other functions specific to the work being performed, based on optional features included. Ordering this unit from a manufacturer often allows the customer to create a customized bench top or walk in model designed to handle the work being performed. Customization includes everything down to color, which can be selected to complement the laboratory cabinets and furnishings. Units can even be created for use with an exhaust control system provided by another supplier.


One of the optional accessories, a manometer, enables the user to monitor differences in pressure to quickly identify pressure loss. An optional static pressure gauge senses the static pressure within the space. The monitor is typically mounted within the exhaust duct and the gauge is mounted on the face of the vent hood for convenient reading.
