Something to Know About a Laboratory

A laboratory, or lab as it is more informally known, is a specialized facility that is equipped with infrastructure to create controlled conditions to conduct experiments and research in science and technology. Labs are not just those facilities used for scientific research; archaeologists calorimeter indonesia and geologists, astronomers, biologists, computer scientists, chemists, doctors and medical professionals, engineers, gemologists and jewelers, and many others use labs to do extensive studies in their respective fields.

Labs used for different fields of study as in engineering, science and technology are designed differently based on the requirements for experimentation and research. Hence, a biologist or chemist will need a 'wet laboratory' where biological matter, chemicals and drugs are used in liquid solutions or volatile forms, which require particular standards of ventilation and specialized pipes for carrying liquids and gases.

A Physics lab, on the other hand, where studies on particles and matter are done will feature a particle accelerator. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the Cern Laboratory is the world's largest and most powerful Particle Accelerator.

In laboratories used by computer scientists, super computers and servers fill large rooms; computers connected through networks are used for data analysis and to simulate systems for further study in subjects related to engineering, mathematics and science.

Engineers used labs to create designs of buildings and machinery before they are actually built or assembled. Nowadays, computers are fed data to produce simulated designs of buildings, bridges, tunnels etc. before the construction phase begins.

Specialized types of laboratories

Today proximate analyzer indonesia, scientific laboratories in small and large sizes are found in schools, universities, military agencies, government offices, etc. A lab facility may offer work space for a single individual or a group of individuals to collate information, study the data and arrive at certain analyses.

The term 'lab' may also refer to other facilities where infrastructure, equipment, processes and techniques are used to define certain functions. Some examples of these are:

• Crime labs

• Darkrooms or film laboratories

• Media labs

• Medical labs

More recently, institutes and centers dealing with human and social sciences like specialized learning, leadership and motivational techniques and organizational structuring have started using the term 'lab' to denote the nature of their work which involves case studies, data analysis, experimentation, situational simulation, and research.
